It's not very loud, but, if you don't have the stereo on and are getting onto the freeway, it's somewhat noticable. Although I have heard the phantom gas splash sound before. It reminds me of the sound you would get if you had a dried up leaf get into your airvents. It's that quiet type of "clicking" or "ticking" type sound.
My service rep at the Dodge dealership knows me by name after having so many misc. problems with my car. Poor guy. My car has spent the last two months in the shop with weekends at home (well, almost. It's been in for almost 4 of the last 10 weeks).
