One of the ways I've acquired so many MP3's was to use a digital ripping program for the computer called Audio Catalyst.
It reads the cd at about 32X digitally for the sake of speed. But as long as the cd reader can play the cd at 1X and put out an analog signal to the sound card, the cd can be ripped successfully no matter what type of copy protection they try to put on the cd. It just takes longer to rip the CD.
