HELP! Need consensus on switching to synthetics...

I'm getting ready to go synthetic in my differentials, transfer case and transmission in preparation for towing a travel trailer.  I have questions on two things that I've heard different opinions on:

1. In replacing the transmission fluid, is there or is there not a problem with the regular and synthetic fluid mixing?  My question stems from the fact that there is no easy way to drain the torque converter.  I received a reply on this question further down in the list and the answer was that it will mix ok.  But since then, I've heard that it's Baaaad.

2. In draining the differentials, is there any special procedure required for "draining the axles" or does that happen anyway when you remove the diff cover?  Or, does this question even apply?

I want to do all this myself but I want to do it right.

Thanks!
David
