Re: Any suggestions on canoe/ kayak carrier for the D ??

I'm a Yakima fan as I mentioned in some earlier post.  I've got the rail riders that are specific to the D, the round bars (48" I think), and cradles for the front bar and "hully rollers" for the rear bar.  I've got 2 kayaks and 2 cradle/roller pairs.  They work great.  You need to be careful (especially AFTER a day of paddling) to get the boat up in the air (on your shoulder or easier with a partner) and the bow onto the rollers.  At that point you just slide the boat forward onto the cradle, tie it down and drive home.  I'm only 5'6" so side loading the D is out for me.  I could do it on my old Explorer but the D required rear loading.  The cradle/roller setup works great if I'm alone or with someone.  Very secure on the highway.  I think Thule has a similar setup so the Yakima/Thule comes down to personal preference of round bars vs. square bars.  There are +/- to both - you can contact me offline and I can get into it.
