Followup: Full Time or Part Time 4WD?

Hello All

I posted last week about what options to order with my Durango...thanks for all the great responses and insight!!

Just so I understand better about the differences between FT 4WD and PT 4WD:

1) What are the advantages to get Part Time (PT) 4WD? Does it get better gas mileage and if not then why do people even get it?

2) If I do get PT4WD I'm still unclear on how to properly use it. Since I live in sunny Calif I really only want 4WD for better traction when it rains and for the occasional trip to Tahoe. When it does rain I'd like to still cruise on the freeway at normal speed (speed limit can be up to 65mph). I will probably never take it official "four wheeling" unless you count the occasional mellow camping trip. Does PT4WD suit my purpose?
