Re: I can just see it...

Actually the V-10 is a much newer concept/engine than the 12 as witnessed by the evolution of Formula 1 Racing. Whilst the 12s were popular in the 60s and early 70s most are now running 8s and 10s with Ferrari's new V10 putting out an amazing 800 and some odd horses.
Given the new F-1 regs, turbos are no longer allowed. Should they have been, it would have been conceivable that Mercedes and Ferrari's could have toppoed the 1000 hp with dual turbos. The power to weight ration on a formula 1 car is of course such that 4-5 G's are not uncommon as drivers downshift from 200mph in 6th or 7th to 2nd gear in the space of a 100 yards. The V-10 is smaller, better balanced and more frugal than the 12 for comparable
hp. As for a 12 in a D? Nah I'd rather have the T-Rex, Dodge's concept monster concept truck. 4x6 and 6x6 V-10 550 hp...no horn - ya don't need one, ya can just drive over the person in front 8-)
