Concern about PCM upgrade

I have been considering the PCM replacement on my 2000 5.9 but have a concern about the effects of the transmission shift points.

1st - The 5.9L runs out of steam above 5,000 rpm but the PCM allows the transmission to shift at redline. Is there a reason why this is ok and makes sense?

2nd - Does it change the shift points under part and light throttle? Downshift points?

3rd - I assume that the PCM does not affect shift quality. I like when the transmission shifts but it could be firmer!

Any help from those running the PCM would be great!
