Area around the headlight switch is very hot (more)

I have an slt plus 01 and after driving for 2 hours with the lights on the area around the light switch becomes very hot. I was not able to hold my finger on a spot just above the dash light dial.

Is this normal on an 01 or is there a problem. I had a 98 D which also got warm around the switch but not nearly this bad.

Thanks for any information anyone may have.
