I apologize for the length of this message and to anyone not interested in this battle, do not bother to read any further.

---------------

I am also having an email war with Anthony Compofelice, the founder of the 'other D' club.

I am having an interesting time educating him to the issues of calling me, a Jew, a member of a nazi group. If I ever run into him, I guarantee it will be with my Durango.

This morning I wrote him this email:

"It appears that you have decided to ignore my comments and instead lock me out. Real professional, especially when you then allow your members to make snide comments about me. I guess I now know the level you want to maintain on your forum."

His response:

"Nobody locked you out. No one is talking about you and the comments anymore and all of us prefer if it isn't brought up again. This is a forum for Durango Owners, not people who want to and complain about some silly comments."

I guess that the message "You are not allowed to access this club" doesn't really mean what it says then?

I am sorry, but I do not feel those comments were silly, they were hateful and they should be retracted or removed.
Also, from him:

"And, by the way, I deleted a bunch of messages referring to you and the comments. So, no, I didn't let a bunch of people make snide remarks, I got rid of them."

I assume that since everyone here has seen those comments, it is obvious that he did not remove them as he stated.

Then I responded with the following: "Nice change of attitude. I thought you and I were having a professional conversation. Now I understand.

I did nothing to you or your group except point out that a certain term when used by a person is offensive and demeaning. I asked you to do something about it and you sent out an email. Since then the thread has expanded to a number of posts dealing with the subject. Obviously you don't read your own forum's posts.

As a Jew, that term is inherently offensive to me. As someone who lost 80% of my family to those s (german and others) in WW II, I take offense to anyone who uses that term no matter the use. When it is used to describe me and my friends I will not stand by and allow it to happen.

Do not ever stand in front of me and use that term, I guarantee you won't like the results."

BTW, this is the personal email that I received from him at the beginning of this issue

My name is Anthony and I'm the founder of the Dodge Durango Club on Yahoo! Clubs. I logged on today and noticed everything that was going on, and I would just like to say that I agree with you. I am very sorry to lose you as a member, but JB58 and everyone didn't the comment as a rascist slur. I have sent out a global message to the membership of the club asking them to be more respectful and a little more inciteful in their comments. Hopefully everyone can be a little more civil in tnhe future.

Again, I'm sorry to lose you as a member, but hope someday that you
will return to the club.

Founder, Dodge Durango Club
He sure sounded sincere in his first message but it all seemed to go downhill when his members decided to back up the person who posted the original message. He agreed with me but at the same time said that the comment wasn't a racist slur.

Excuse me? IMO he has no backbone to stand up to his members and tell them they were wrong and he won't allow those sorts of comments on his forum either.

I applaud the DOC for censoring this forum in that regard.

Thanks to all those that are supporting me on this. To the others, I hope you and I don't ever run into each other.
PS: This is his last message to me:

"This conversation is over. If you don't like our forum, don't come in. The Internet is an uncensored version of life. If you don't like what you see, leave. It's as easy as that. I, and the other club under, are not about to censor our club, just like DOC isn't going to censor theirs. We can banter all day long, but I have better things to do with my life. I'm sorry you don't like our club, but I'm sure there are other clubs out there for you. Please do not continue arguing with me about this. Everyone in the forum is over it, and I am getting tired of arguing. I think you are the only one who keeps bringing it up."
