Power Inverters/Converters

When we were doing the Mt. Washington leg of the DRAGA, I borrowed a power converter from Herman. I'd really like to get one myself, and was wondering what experiences people had. For clarification, they are the boxes that change the vehicle power (cig. lighter) to regular (110 volt) power. Can the Durango electrical system handle multiple things plugged in at once (small cooler, laptop, cell phone, massage seat cushion...)

Thanks for any suggestions (oh and if you could let me know brands that'd be cool, that way I can do some research!)
