It is a lighter color and doesn't add much heat to the vehicle in the summer.
It is easy to clean.
It hides imperfections well.
It has a high degree of metallic, and shines well.

Emotional characteristics:

It looks classy.
Previous experience with other colors (a variety of vehicles):

Black is hotter than heck and shows every imperfection, piece of dirt, and paint swirl, but is very nice looking (when clean and with few imperfections)(Nissan Pathfinder).
Blue (dark) some similar qualities of black but to a lesser degree, and also can be visually appealing (BMW 320i).
Maroon (Chili Pepper Redish) not as bad as black in the sun, hides dirt OK, and relatively easy to keep looking good and clean, although didn't seem to draw as much attention (subjective) (Lancia Beta Coupe).
