Re: Service Contracts

I just purchased a 36K warranty (when the truck had 42K). Zero deductable on this policy. Such things included as gaskets as a stand-alone repair (i. e. - if the truck ever "leaks," they replace the gaskets). They pay the service dept. same day by a Corporate AMEX. No litigation, no paperwork fiddling (a service dept's dream). Bottom line with any ext. policy for any service dept. -- "are we going to get paid today? " Answer with this Edmunds-endorsed (over 1 million client) policy is "yes. " Also, rental car if in the shop for extended period, $50 per diem for lodging/food if break down occurs far from home. The benefits go on and on. This company will even personally call your ASAE certified mechanic (that's all they deal with) to explain things to them if you run into any hassle. I had qquestions and emailed -- had a response and/or phonecall within minutes! $1300 for the policy. A similar package through one of the big three (with a deductable) runs roughly $3K. Your choice. Contrary to what one thinks, the big money maker at car dealerships are not new car sales (unless they move them in 90 days). Dealers make their money selling extended D/C warranties, car alarms, stupid "acid rain" treatments, useless/not-needed rust proofing packages, used car sales, and by charging dumb prices in their service departments, etc. Of course - any finance dept. of a Dodge dealer will tell you "the best deal out there is a Chrysler ext. warranty. " No kidding -- they see $$$ signs every time one is purchased! If you want the name of this ext. warranty company - email me and I'll pass you their name/phone/email/webpage. Best of luck -- Jim
