Are there any reasons to not crank the torsion bars to lift the front of my D?

Are there any reasons to not crank the torsion bars to lift the front of my D? My dad says "he likes stock trucks" and i am not changing any parts, i need sme evidense to convince him to let me tighten the torsion bars. Thanx for all your guys help earlier, i finally found them, and the adjustment screw. I now have tyhe right size wrench out and everything. Just need my dads permissing. ANy help would be great, but are there any side effects?
