Travel Help Chicago - Las Vegas need you Colorado and Texas Members Help.

Well I am planning on going the week of Thanksgiving,leaving the Friday before and returing the Friday after. What I ask is my Mother who lives in Vegas is deadly afraid of me driving through the Mountains during that time because of the snow and stuff. Now being from Chicago and being a local truck driver, I know how to drive in the snow except now she has me questioning myself. Should I take the straight shot there I-80 to I-76 to I-70 to I-15 or should I come from the south and go 200+ miles out of my way and go I-55 to I-44 to I-40 and visit you Texas members :) What are your suggestions... (I dont need the "buy plane tickets suggestions :)")
