I ordered my 99 D without the third row seat as I have no kids/pets.
Unlike the previous posts, there IS more storage without the third row seat. There is an extra 'hidden' compartment for storage behind the second seat where the foot well would be if the third row was there. Also, there is more space from where the third row of seats fold flat, after all, the seats have to take up some room within the confines of the D. It may not be a lot but there is more room for storage without the third row. Hope this helps.
