I dont know what type of O2 sensor is on the D. But you could put a hi impedance digital volt meter on it and measure the output.
On my other cars, we set up the fuel curve and read the plugs. Then you can back off the boost a tad and have a good confidence level that you are not detonating. When you race you dont have time to look at all your instruments. The guage I was referring to has different lights. If you have.8 volts you are probably on the verge of detonation, if you have.9 volts, your all set, but will be slightly rich at WOT. Better to be ruch and a little slower. This guage is accurate and has a green light at.9 V, yellow at.85 V, and 3 red lights. Other on the lists have both EGT's and AF guages. Most report failures and try to give EGT's. I guess the cast pitons melt at 1450, the forged ar good to 1600. It is near impossible to concentrate, lights make it easier.
Some cylinders will run leaner, dont have a clue on these 5.9 engines.
Do you have a supercharge on your D. I do not, just passing on my experience.
Peace
Mike
