Go below and check my buddies page. E-mail him. This guy has a van which runs low 13's and a Acclaim which runs low 12's. Not fast enough, visit another friends page, he has K-car which runs 10.8's and a Daytona which runs 12.6's. Note the Daytona was a stock 140K mile car. He added another injector, changed the headgasket and did a clutch. Not bad. Can run 13.5's all day on 18 lbs of boost on slippery street tire.
Give me your address and I will send you a tape. Note there are probably 5000 folks on the various SDML(Shelby turbo lists) who play this high boost game. Yes, big intercoolers help along with a good turbo, but it isnt complex stuff. Most run stock cast pistons and a modest 20lbs of boost, others polish/port use J&E forged pistons etc. The issue of aftermarket ignitions came up. Conclusion, dont need them save your $$$ and spend it on something else. THese folks have run just about every combination and report back on results. Great community, cheap buggers like me.
Ask Chris Black, he saw my cars and parts when I helped him with his Durango. Trick is to use your guages. A guy named Darren Dawes makes a very nice AF guage, has 5 LED's. Works slick, when your at full throttle all you have to do is make sure you have 4 light(.9 volts from the O2) and you awont be running lean. Cost $30. You cant beat these cars for low cost.
Dont believe all the hype you read, you dont need expensive aftermarket stuff to go fast. Of course if you want to go all out and use new pistons, rods etc go for it. I would think 6 lbs of boost would be cake on these things. Only problem you may have is the CR is higher. If you could shim your head gasket to lower the CR, you would greatly improve things.
