Don't know how functional they are, but it can't hurt to keep "stuff" from getting up in the receiver. You can get a ram's head plug from the dealer very cheaply. It's made out of hard rubber and, unlike in the picture in the Mopar parts catalog, the ram's head is not silver. The plug is all black.
