Even though it does have the heat shield, it does still get the fan heat and it still does get the heat to the intake. It does make a noticeable difference, but, the heat shield in my opinion is a joke. Just today, opting for the cheaper route of the intense performance idea, i took an 8" flexible metal tubing bought from my local Home Depot and cut it down to size to cover the cone filter. I then cut a hole in the side of the tubing and put 3" flexible tubing and ran it to the grill. So far so good. Just by doing this, the D seems to have a little more spunk, not faster but spunkier, if you know what i mean. And he tubing seems to be keeping the hot air out. I understand your 50 dollar off deal, but after looking into it, I like the intese performance idea of the covered canister.Jay
