I have the same intake...

Even though it does have the heat shield, it does still get the fan heat and it still does get the heat to the intake. It does make a noticeable difference, but, the heat shield in my opinion is a joke. Just today, opting for the cheaper route of the intense performance idea, i took an 8" flexible metal tubing bought from my local Home Depot and cut it down to size to cover the cone filter. I then cut a hole in the side of the tubing and put 3" flexible tubing and ran it to the grill. So far so good. Just by doing this, the D seems to have a little more spunk, not faster but spunkier, if you know what i mean. And he tubing seems to be keeping the hot air out. I understand your 50 dollar off deal, but after looking into it, I like the intese performance idea of the covered canister.
