Re: Y-pipe install - Is welding required on Cat?

As far as I know, welding is required to attach the Y-pipe to the cat.
I have the Mesa headers and also installed their hi-flow cat. Welding was required for my installation.
You may get lucky and be able to piece it together with adaptors and clamps, but I really don't think so. Welding one joint shouldn't be very expensive at all.
If you go with Mesa, check out their cat for $150. Less back pressure and a claimed extra 6hp at the rear wheels. Opening the cat flow will have a little increase in exhaust sound also.
