Can't remember the exact name of this device, but it has something to do with emissions and gas vapor recovery. There should be a purge valve on it (I believe it is a green cap), a couple of hoses and an electrical connector. The connector goes to a sensor that monitors the entire fuel system for leaks. If it detects a leak, the check engine light will go on. You can do the same thing by leaving the fuel cap off, but I'm sure you don't want the light to go on.This should have not affect on the CC.
