Y-pipe install - Is welding required on Cat?

Was looking into buying and installing headers (Mesa -maybe) but I'm not real handy with the torch, so I thought about bolting on headers myself and having a shop intall Y pipe.
Will Headers line up with factory Y-pipe so bolt on installation can go smoothly? Is welding required on Cat or if I cut the pipe and clamp it will it work?Just putting all my ducks in a row...
