Crisis solved! Got the Optima installed (more)

Well folks, basically I'm set back ~$150 (Va. tax is a bear), but I got the
battery installed. It's a red top 800 cranking amp Optima, but it says
"Interstate" instead of Optima since Interstate owns them I guess they want
their name on it. ;-)

Anyway, the install was pretty straight forward. Just an fyi, the Optima battery
is smaller (not as long, same width) and the black plastic cover that went around the
OEM battery is too big and tall which would make the battery slide around. So...
the simple fix to THAT is to not use the black plastic cover and just use the top
crossover with the two long mounting bolts (for those of us unfortunate to have
replaced a battery, you know what I mean). It holds it nice and snug and the D
started up fine. I had one of my staff leave work and take me over to the shop
to pick up the battery so that took some time but the actual time to replace the
battery was less than 10 minutes.

Now...for the sermon..brothers and sisters...

IF ANY OF YOU HAVE *NOT* REPLACED YOUR OEM BATTERY, I *STRONGLY* SUGGEST YOU
DO SO *NOW*. Don't wait like I did. From what the service department told me,
it's only a matter of time before your battery will suddenly die on you. Mine lasted
exactly one year and nine months...actually alittle longer than some folks on
this forum so I thought I was free and clear from the battery "plague".

I never thought it would happen to me...I always thought it would happen to the
other guy...but ME? (sniff sniff)...I'm just very fortunate that it happened
in my driveway and not out in the middle of nowhere.

Now..please pass the offering plate to help brother Aki pay for his battery.. ;-)

sermon mode off...

cheers,
-aki
