Ok, the one thing i really hate about my D are it's horrible headlights. The 9007 bulb does not provide for a powerful high beam, and the beam in general is pretty weak. I don't want to intterupt the fluid lines of my D, so what I've decided to do is Completely Revamp the Headlights. The new style seems to be the "Diamond Cut" headlamp look and i think this would look very very nice on the D. So here is what I am going to do. Specifics are not yet ironed out, still trying to figure some logistics out... though you all could help. The first step would involve completely romoving the whole headlight unit. This leaves a pretty large "cave" area open. I plan to line the interior of this cave with a material, most possible a shiny metal, or a black coated metal. Then I will mount a large circular highbeam and a smaller low beem aftermarket lamp in the incave area. There is also room for other auxilery lights or turn signal lights. The next step is the hardest. I will have to find a manufacturor of plastics to make a strong but clear covering to replace the old lamp fixture shape. Does anyone know of any sort of custom factory or company i could try and get ahold of to get a quote on somthing like this. Of course i would wire the lights to the factory switches, i also plan to apply either a reflector metalic projector type finish on the plastic casing or a Black Body color projector design.. WEll attached is a very quick sketch i came up with of what it may look like. Please any suggstions comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. ~Steve Corby
