I have 18x8.5" wheels on my 2wd D with 255/55-18 tires. This setup is 29" tall and provides a good compromise between fitting 18s and having some sidewall.
The trick to any wheel swap is to get the wheel placed correctly in the wheelwell. You will need to pay special attention to the offset on any wheel you buy. The 15x8 rims that came stock sit inside the fender lip. My 18s have a 1.25" positive offset and still end up nearly even with the fender flares (outside the fender lip where I wanted them). Choose your wheels carefully, it is an expensive investment.
I really like the Stillen grille and bumper cover idea. The hood you have chosen is too aggresive for my taste, but compliments the Stillen pieces well. Have you seen the AAR twin ram air or the East Coast Customs single ram air hoods?
