On other cars, I had had terrible noises when calipers aren't cleaned when new pads are installed.
The old brake dust is almost like graphite when it's between backing plate of pads and the caliper. The pads scoot when you apply brakes in reverse, then again when applied going forward.
My Ford Probe was notorious for it, even after carefull cleaning and applying new goop. There was probably too much clearance between calipers and pad backing plates allowing a lot of motion...
