Some have been asking about digital cameras. Mine arrived yesterday. Already been through three sets of batteries!!!! Need to head to WalMart and get some NiHydrox's and a charger to mount in my D.

Anyway, I got the Ricoh RCD-5300. It is super! The top res is 1892x1200, which is good enough to get bigger than an 8x10 at the same quality as film! More importantly, it has an automatic cover that covers the LCD, as well as an automatic lens cover. It comes with 8MB internal and I got the 32MB smartmedia card ($90) to go with it. It has 3X optical zoom which is about 34mm to 114mm on a regular camera. It has 2X digital zoom, but as we know digital zoom is worthless, you can do the same in your paint program. Built-in flash and USB port make it really cool. I connect it to my PC using the USB port and my PC now thinks it has two extra disk drives. I just copy files off the camera by draging them in explorer. Can even edit the pics on the camera via the USB using paint program on PC! It only has two resolutions, the 1892x1200 (about .5M) and the 900x600 (about .25M). It has three quality settings Fine, Normal, and Econo. This simply relates to how much compression is done. I found only the fine setting acceptable.

I can get 39 of the High-res pics at the Fine setting on the 32MB memory card, or 119 of the lower res pics. Memory cards are easy to swap and are really small.

I got my info at www.dcresource.com.

Got the camera at CDW for $630. (I asked them for their best price.) (Cheaper at a fly-by-night place in NY, but didn't want to take the chance. Plus they wanted $35 for shipping, and CDW charged $15 for FedEx!)

Only had it two days, but really like it!
