The man gambled...yes...but he also is the all time hit leader. Therefore, while it is not right, it is also not like he was a key player who threw games to win bets.
Yes, he screwed up...but he was not a drug addict, did not assault people, and did not threaten to murder his coach.
The God I pray to teaches me forgiveness. Perhaps others should be introduced to Him. Pete has served his time in exile, and his mistakes should not eclipse his accomplishments.
I am not trying to pick a fight with anyone, I just truly believe that the price of his crime has been paid. Too many people get hung up on the fact that "this guy seems to have a attitude".
