I have a Clifford Concept 100. It works great. Comes with it's own remote to replace the Durango's. Has 4 buttons on it. Lock/Unlock button (1 button-hold it for 3 secs for panic alarm), start/stop button, Trunk open (not used), and headlight timer button(press and lights come on for set time--although it's not used on the Concept 100)

Check out www.clifford.com The remote is a 4-button shown on the Intelliguard page, not the 3-button that is shown in the Concept page.

I like the remotes a lot better than the ones that came with the D. Buttons are recessed more, so the panic button doesn't go off when I put my keys in my pocket.

The remotes work from close to 1000 feet away.

Features

2 remote controls (mentioned only because my F*** Explo*** starter only had 1 remote.)

Selectable automatic doorlock when started (either via ignition or RPM) and unlock when ignition is turned off.

Smart panic-if the ignition is off (meaning you're outside) the doors unlock for quick entry; if the engine is on, the doors lock.

Glass tampering/breakage detector.

Low (remote) battery warning-alerts when to change the remote control battery.

Built in starter interrupt. Won't start even if the alarm is ripped out of the vehicle.

Dual point immobilizer guards both starter and ignition.

Plain-view valet switch. Needs a certain code (you program) to shut the alarm off.

Selectable Auto Arming/Auto Locking

Bypass when fueling...just turn the ignition to on (not start) and off quickly and the alarm is bypassed until the next vehicle start.

Extended Accessory Power--so you can roll up the window AFTER the D has been turned off. (until a door is opened.) Or listen to the radio.

OPTIONAL ADD-ONS

I don't know the prices for these, but here are some thing you can add to this system if you have the need to

Anti Car-Jacking

Self Recovery-stops the vehicle a block or two away, only when the thief slows down at a stop sign or turn...doesn't kill the engine when they're doing 65mph so they don't lose control and trash your vehicle.

A third Wireless immobilizer, thief can't trace wires to find it.

Tilt/Motion sensor -So a would-be thief can't tow it to a garage to dismantle the alarm.

Proximity sensor -- leave your windows open and alarm will sound if someone leans in the window.

Window Closure..automatically closes the windows when you arm with the remote.

Remote controlled timed headlight activation..you choose from 1 second to 4 minutes.

Originally, I had an Avital (sister company of Clifford) 6500 Autostart installed, but Tweeter (installer) couldn't get it to work correctly, so they installed the Clifford at no additional cost. (The Avital system was $400.00, the Concept 100 is around $530.00.)

This system will work with manual trans. also.

You can get an autostart for a lot less money, but this has an integrated alarm which replaces the D's.

The autostart can be programmed to start when the temp goes below a set temperature. (-5*F, -20*F)

OK, now after reading this, you might think I work for Clifford or something. I don't. I just really like the alarm/starter, and when *I* was looking, I could hardly find *any* information out there.

The one thing that I don't like about it is the way it is hooked into the D. From what I'm told, there isn't an easy way to disable the OEM alarm. The problem is, you MUST lock the doors with the remote AFTER ALL doors are shut. If you lock all the doors with the button on the drivers door, or use the remote to lock the doors BEFORE the doors are shut, the factory alarm gets armed and when you disarm the Clifford and open the door, the factory alarm starts honking/flashing. If you don't have the factory remote (which I don't carry anymore) you have to insert the ignition key into the drivers door to disarm the factory alarm.

Other than that, the system is great. It doesn't take too long to remember not to use the doorlock button on the drivers door. I guess for high-risk areas, you *could* set both alarms. :)
Hope this helps...

Sorry if I am dragging up an old topic!!

Anybody have a remote starter on their D? If so which brand and any rants/raves? [for myself]

Also does anybody know who makes ones for manual transmissions? [for a friend]

Signed,

Can't wait for DAMR!!
