Do the bug sheilds for the Ds help keep the windshield clear?....MORE

They have such a low profile I wondered if that actually helped the windshield or just the hood and fenders.Do you need the ones on the fenders for windshield protection or just the one on the hood? I live out in the country in Texas, so windshield bugs are definitely an issue.
