but if you want them black, I would go with the flat black and not paint them.
It's just a matter of your personal taste. I can imagine that gloss black on red would look nice, too.
I'll tell you one thing, though. The ram head tail light covers turns more heads than anything else on my truck. I don't know what it is, but people go weird over them.
