Bet you cleaned the insides of the wheels while you were at it too! :)

: All-

: Keman (husband) and I put the Edelbrock IAS shocks in yesterday... and we saw a /significant/ improvement in ride quality.

:
: More Specifically: 1999 D, 31" tires, 3.92 rear axle, HD/Tow prep, 21,000 miles.

: - Left rear stock shock was completely blown. Leaking hydraulic oil like a bomb pop on a summer day. What an f'in mess!

: - /All/ the washboarding effect on local roads is now gone. There is a -light- thumpy noise in its place, much much better than stock shocks. My D feels like it just got the BMW 740iL suspension upgrades (having driven one...).

: The shock install was a basically hassle free 3 hour exercise. Mind you, we've got an air compressor, air impact wrench, torque wrench, and a full complement of hand-tools. YMMV. Take all tires off, including the spare. 4 (3 - 4 ton) jack stands and a high-lift, commercial rolling floor-jack are a pre-requisite. For ease of installation

: Since my kit didn't come with spacers, we used 3 Grade-8 ("hardened") 7/16" SAE sized washers per side. These go on the spindle side of the lower shock mount (spindle-washers-shock-bolthead). I'll probably be in contact with Edelbrock shortly to order the correct spacers for the front lower shock mounts.

: Mark (N3TEL) was right... even when you /think/ you have the shock-boots in the right spot, you don't. Buy extra zip ties to match the existing ones. I know I'll need to re-tie mine in a few days when I have time.

: Woo! My commute today kicked butt. :-)
