Just had the trans. oil, filter,& bands adjusted on my 98 D with 44RE transmission. Was talking to the own er of the transmission shop about our forum and the problems being addressed. He told me that that he's only worked on two Dodge transmission since the new 44,46's & 47RE's have been out. They were both 46RE's. He said that the shop that he and other transmission shop's in the state get there rebuilt transmission's from do more 46RE, & 47RE's than 44re's. But he said here in Montana the Dodge trucks with 360's, V-10's & and diesels are used on farm's, ranch's, construction, and other heavy duty work. The trucks themselves are worn out, not just the transmissions The 44RE's usually never see this kind of work, so they don't have the same problems.
By the way my oil was as good as new and no adjustments were needed on my transmission at 31000 miles. Still going strong, mighty 5.2, mated to a 44RE. No A/C problems, window problems, or weird sounds from under the D, Just plain RAM TOUGH.
