Re-welding broken shock mounts on my '73 Dart race car that, because of it's fender sheet metal arrangement had to have air shocks on the back to keep it up high enough for the wide mags on the back. Not a good idea to use the shocks as weight-bearing suspension components, especially off-road. They are not made to support the weight of the whole vehicle.

: Just thinking out loud, but what about lifting a D up with something like the Rancho Air Adjustable shocks? I 4wheel only ocasionally and would like to keep the ride, gas milage, and warranty associated with stock. If you only wanted a couple or three inches more, seems like these types of shocks would work. I guess there would be a problem in that all the weight would be on the shock attachments instead of the springs etc... Anybody spent any time thinking about this?
