Most cars today use the doors as a means to circulate the air throughout the car. I was standing next to my D a couple of days ago when I noticed a rather large draft coming from the door handles of the two front doors. Just as caulking around thos little cracks in the windows of your house can reduce your energy bill, I believe sealing off the door handles will do the same for the D. I was contemplating attaching a small box of some sort of material to the inside of the door handle to isolate it from the air flow. It would have to allow free travel of the locking mechanism as well as the function of the door handle. I have some ideas for accomplishing this, but I think someone could come up with a better one. The goal here is to stop the air from escaping, not insulating. I think some folks in this forum have noticed this little phenomenon but not much else has been said about it. I just believe that if you can actually feel the "rush of air" escaping then it is a pretty substantial loss of cooling being generated here. Also since cold ir likes to rest close to the floor I would recommend that you check the door seals on the bottom of the doors. Ours have come loose (they are simply taped on) and we have some on order from the dealer. Once they come loose and get dirt on the sticky side they're relativly useless. Just alittle brain candy. Do with it as you wish.
