Magnums are Magnums. They are actually a redesign of the "A" motors and not either A or B series engines. Some parts will interchange, others will not. For example: An "A" head will bolt on but the "A" uses rocker shafts and the Magnum uses studs. Also oiling to the head/rockers and valve cover mounting is different.

An interesting point to add to the confusion is that the "Crate magnums" use parts which are not interchangeable with the standard "Magnum" engines.

Bottom line, when looking to buy goodies, only go for "Magnum" specified parts and stay away from "crate" parts unless specific as to being able to use in the standard Magnum. Cams especially, as they differ in length and ability to run a mechanical fuel pump. Not to say an "A" or "crate" part won't work but I would be very carefull.
