I had to do that and when I asked the salesman if he would garentee that my Durango would be EXACTLY what I ordered, he said " I will give you my personal in writing garentee. If it comes different than you ordered then you don't have to take it and you get your money back.
It came EXACTLY like I ordered it so I did not have to test his word.
A friend of mine who used to be an account for a major car dealer here said that was standard practice to keep someone ordering something weird and then changing their mind.
Some dealers with the big lots will order anything anytime cause they got room for it and lots of customers, but the smaller dealers don't have that luxury.

I just love my Durango.
The only reason why I had to order mine was that I didn't want that stupid 3d kiddie seat.
Here in Columbus Ohio all the Dodge dealers order all their Durangos with the 3d seat and then try to cram it down everyones throat.
I dealt with a small dealer in Delaware Ohio instead.
They WANTED TO SELL ME A CAR!!!!!
And they did and I couldn't be happier.
