I was checking out my intense blue D under the hood and noticed something that I thought was very strange. The steering columns extends out in front of the front axel. I thought this was very odd. I'm not a mechanic, however I am under the impression that most vehicles are not designed like this. I know that the Corvair and Old VW Beetle had steering columns which extended past the front axel which contributed to their lack of crash worthiness. Does anyone know if other cars or SUV's are designed like this? Ed
