Russ, now, I'm no auto engineer, but if the piston doesn't have to suck as hard to get the air, won't it work less, and thus be more efficient? I thought the entire claim of this system (aside from sounding cool) is that the air is less restricted.
Isn't this the same principle that applies to the free flow exhausts? If the engine doesn't have to work as hard to push the air out, it will run more efficiently.
