Troublefree Durangos vs First-name basis w/ the service dept ones...?

Hi all,
I'm close to purchasing a competant "SUV" 4WD, and the Durango is on my short list (actually it's pretty much the only one there), but...I'm quite concerned about reliability. Past experience with American cars--including a Dodge Caravan, no Dodge trucks though--has been less than great, I'm very sorry to say (in spite of several tries and EXCELLENT maintenance). But the Durango (I'd get a '99) has awesome features. Of course, boards like this are loaded with rabid fans who overlook transmission rebuilds as minor problems (OK, not exactly), and on the other hand mechanical problems often crop up as subjects when they might be quite uncommon. Sooooo, I'm curious how many out there have had problems (big or little) that took them the garage and at what mileage. Maybe more importantly, if you've got one at 40 K and have had no or minor (what?) problems, post that too! Sorry about the novel, I'd really appreciate hearing from you all (especially lurkers with troublefree ones!). One more question if anybody's still reading--anyone know if you can you use a front receiver (i.e. Draw-tite) with a tubular brush guard (like the Rhino) installed?

THANKS everyone!!! Jim, update us on the fr receiver/brush guard combo!(little more) Andrew (gig3) 08:55:23 4/01/99
