: If you have two cars that will do the 1.4 mile in 15.o seconds, and one has open headers, and one has a quiet, stock exhaust, then if you drive both, the quieter one will seem faster to you. At least this what I percieve about a vehicle. It is wierd, but again, how I see things. Any comments welcome, from anyone...
I've driven loud and quiet cars both on the street and on the track. It certainly is weird, but the louder cars seem faster on the track, slower on the street, with the opposite true for the the quieter vehicles.
The other strange feeling I've experienced comes while trying to maintain the same engine RPM range for a few minutes on the street in the same vehicle I would take to the track and wind open for much longer sessions of time; on the street, it seems harsh and excessive on the engine, where on the track, it seems so natural, I'm always wishing for a few extra RPM's.
