In fact, about a year ago, we were asking the same thing. We don't have kids, but we do have two labs, and we too were concerned about the dogs on the leather. Well, after almost a year, it has not been a problem. In fact, the leather has proven to be a wise choice. You will, of course, have to keep the dog's nails clipped. But a big advantage, expecially with a shedding machine like a lab, has been that the dog fur does not stick to the leather like it does to cloth. I no longer have to worry when friends get in our car that they are going to come out covered with black dog hair. I would have to say that we heartily recomend the leather. For further information, contact forum posters: Echo, or SD-Skip & SD-Heather, as they are also dog owners with leather.

Hope this helps you out,
