Steve & Joye Massman
(aka DurRT)

About Steve, Joye and their 'D'

This is Steve "DurRT" and Joye Massman and we would like to give a huge thank you to all members of the DOC. Not only for voting us as the June DOTM, but also for assisting us in transforming our D into what it is today.

My wife and I (both 32) have 6 children, Shana (15), Matthew (13), Nicholas (12), Cody (6), Autumn (4) and Rylie (1). I'm in the USN stationed at the same Nuclear Powered Submarine Base as Rod and my wife is a restaurant manager for Burger King (love the free food lol.) I'm from California and my wife is from Wisconsin. I used to be a big online gamer (ranked #1 in the world for Battle Field) but that took up too much time from my family. The great thing about my D hobby is my wife and kids can get involved. I have the kids help me install stuff and my wife helps me pick out what items to buy.

We own a black '01 R/T that's a daily driver as I see no reason to own a vehicle and not enjoy it. I love driving it, even if it's just down the street. There've been times when we've pondered trading it in for more room or better gas mileage, but always keep it because of how much we love it. We've finally made up our minds that, if we want more room or better MPG, we'll just buy another vehicle and keep the D for fun times. We were very lucky when we got her. She was sitting in the used section of our local Dodge dealer with no price tag with 3 SLTs next to her priced at $28k and up. All the SLTs had more mileage than the R/T so we figured $30k or more. Well we were wrong. The dealer just happened to have a sale going on and the R/T was going for $26k. This was in early '03 and it only had 18k miles, which was quite low for an '01, so, without hesitation, we traded in my Beretta with a blown tranny. Thus the story of "DurRT" began.

I first noticed the DOC from a sticker on Rod's '01 Black R/T. I thought to myself, 'I wonder what that is?', went home and was hooked from the first time I went to the site. I've always been into vehicles, but since the days of my '75 Camaro haven't played with anything. My wife doesn't mind the modifications as they made our D unique from all the others.

The first mod I did was 22" wheels and, with the help of Rick, was able to make them fit (thanks BR.) From there it was mod after mod. Steve had all the answers and John W. assisted me with my air intake. Also a big thanks to Anthony for his help with my brake job; couldn't have done it without your website. From there it was a Keystone rear bumper cover and dual FM exhaust. The hood scoop was a custom job my body shop guy did with a Mustang scoop and he cut the hole and made it functional for an Accel Kool Street air filter. The diamond headlights and tail lights we installed made for a cleaner look and brighter view at night. Then there was the TBL cover. I thought it was fantastic the DOC was offering those and giving the profits to a charity. That’s exactly the type of club I was glad to join.

Thank you all again for voting "DurRT" as the June DOTM.
