My name is Tyrone Thompson and I'd like to thank the members of the DOC for voting me the Durangoer of the Month for September 2005.

My passion for custom vehicles started back in 1974 when I put together my 1974 Z28 Camaro. Then, when the van craze was in full swing, I got bit by the Dodge bug and got my Dodge van road worthy. It wasn’t until much later in life, when I got my 1999 Dodge Durango and made my way to my first plant tour, that I realized my passion for custom vehicles was once again ready to emerge. The ideas I got from the members of the DOC helped me to quickly turn my 99 D into the truck of my dreams. But one night, while I was searching for some more upgrades for my 99 on eBay, I ran across the truck I have now.

My wife’s birthday was that week and she was always complaining that I never took her anywhere so I told her I was going to take her to Florida for the weekend. The part about buying my 2001 Durango and driving it back home was just a slight oversight on my part (LOL!) I remembered how excited I was when I first saw the D when it was introduced back in 98 and I was just as excited when I saw the 2001 I bought off eBay. Low mileage, body kit, wheels, stereo, a supercharger and nitrous to boot!

I really like going to shows and hanging out with my fellow truck enthusiasts. I always tell people, "I don’t have a show truck, I just have a truck that goes to shows." The real reward for me is the friendship and bonding we share with one another; and that makes me a winner every time! I look forward to many more years of fun and fellowship with my friends and members of the DOC and again, I'd like to thank you for this honor.
