About Rick and his 'D'

Hi DOC, I’m Rick Morgan and I’m honored to be voted the March DOTM. My wife Stella and I have one child, Mackenzie, who's almost 4 now. I work in sales at a Stereo shop in Indianapolis IN but was born and raised in Owosso MI. My ride is a 2000 Dodge Durango R/T and I'd rather walk than drive anything else.

My D has been highly modified. I began by improving on the engine’s breathing ability by adding 1.7 ratio, stainless steel, roller rocker arms from Competition Cams. The rockers add more lift to the camshaft and, when combined with a Mopar M-1 intake manifold and larger F&B 52mm throttle body, the engine’s breathing capabilities were greatly increased. Then I added a JBA header system and a Flowmaster 40-series muffler. The ignition is an MSD 6A capacitive discharge system that uses an MSD Blaster coil with 8.5mm wires. The engine was finished with the addition of a K&N FIPK air intake system and a set of Mopar valve covers powder coated red under a steel Reflexxion Cowl Induction Hood.

Then the body work began by removing all of the side molding and badges. To fill the fenderwells I added a set of 20-inch Mile Miglia Mesa wheels and a set of Toyo 295/45R20 tires. A set of Ventshade vent visors were also added as well as a set of Mito heated signal mirrors which replaced the factory units on the doors.

Inside there's a really luxurious suede headliner and Kenwood head unit with monitor to control the entertainment system, consisting of a DVD player & multi-disc CD changer. A DVD navigation system is in the dash which is composed of carbon fiber overlays and billet knobs. The rear view mirror is an Audiovox featuring a built-in monitor for the reverse camera I added. The amps for the system are mounted on the rear passenger windows. Although they look as though they're bolted to the glass, I actually created a custom mounting kit to secure them to the glass that makes for a unique display spot. Monster Cables are used throughout including the custom enclosure housing the 13" Kenwood subwoofer and Kenwood 1600 watt amp that powers it.

There're a lot of monitors in my D. One that flips down from the center console, two that fit behind the front head rests, one on the head unit and one in the cargo area by the sub. No movie? Try the onboard Sony Playstation 2 system.
