February 2005
About Susie and her 'D' Hello fellow DOC'ers, I'm Susie Payfer and let me first say, "thank you" for the nomination for February Durango of the Month! Scarlett and I are very proud to accept this honor. Some of you may remember back how excited I was when I first took delivery of Scarlett. I was very happy to say the least and even more happy finding the DOC. My husband, Jack, and myself became members of the DOC in Sept of 2000 and are proud to say we had the pleasure of attending the 2001 and 2002 Durango Plant Tours. Had a great time at both, enjoyed seeing awesome trucks, and had the pleasure of meeting many nice folks in person. It's amazing seeing how our trucks are built. If you haven't made it to any of the plant tours in Newark DE, you need to as it's worth it. We hope to be able to attend more events in the future. After Market Mods:
My hubby is Scarlett's mechanic and we've installed all of Scarlett's mods ourselves. The D is my daily driver. The hardest, and most time consuming, were the upper & lower Street Scene grille inserts and the Hotchkis sport swaybars. We're very pleased with the way they hold the truck closer to the road, making cornering safer. The Manik brush guard also took some time because neither the hardware nor the instructions were provided for installation on an 2001 so we had to figure out the differences between earlier model year bumper mountings and those for the '01 model year ourselves. The Fastman TB and IP Stage III cold-air intake were easy to install and didn't take much time at all. Be safe everybody, and Happy D-ing!
